IN DREAMS

( HUE LEGGINGS, INDIGO HEELS, ADAM BLOUSE, BOTKIER CLUTCH, THRIFTED SWEATER, CANDYSHOP VINTAGE BROCH)
For as long as I can remember my dream has been to be a working actor.
I can gratefully say that acting has become how I make my living and I no longer have to waitress or work odd jobs to pay the bills. Amazing!

But lately I've been wishing for a larger role.
A part I can really make my own and perform to the top of my ability.
A role I could explore for longer than a day or even a week.

With all that is going on in the world it's easy to think that our personal goals don't matter.

We all have wishes and often we stifle them for the sake of gratitude ( Our lives are indeed so good) or not seeming self-involved in the face of so much turmoil. But wishes are important.
Imagine
If Obama had never wished to be president...
Or Hemingway had never wished to publish a novel...
Or Julia Child had never wished to master the art of French cooking...
Or ...
The list goes on and on.

I guess I'm writing this to convince myself that no matter how old we get
wishes are still worth having.
In fact they sort of make us who we are and we in turn make the world a more inspiring place to live in.

What are you wishing for these days?
I'd love to hear.

  1. I love this post! It sounds funny, but I often feel frustrated by my seemingly unending ability to wish, dream, and make new goals. I happen to know that you're the same way ;) Although it can seem daunting, silly, or just a pain in the ass- I think you're totally right! Following your dreams and wishing for new ways to grow, is part of what makes people great. Thanks for the reminder. Right now, I'm wishing that I had a plane ticket to LA :)

  2. I wish you had a plane ticket to LA too!

I know what you mean, the feeling of "will I ever reach a point where I'm just content?"

    Probably not!

Oh well, this is more interesting.

  3. YES! Girl, I am right there with you! Remember when I was like "I would love it if hosting can pay my bills so I can act and not have a day job!" Well now that's happening and all I want is a major acting role too...or just some major auditions for Pete's Sake! and like you mentioned, I end up feeling guilty and think I should just be happy that I'm "not waiting tables". Let's dream it up and DO IT! PS - why haven't we done a film together?
