BLUE & GOLD

Last night SEABIRD and I attended the opening night of A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE, starring Scarlett Johannsen and Liev Schrieber. I am absolutely no critic and never wish to be but I will say that Scarlett held her own on stage and that the show was very well done all around. As for my outfit it was off-the-rack Urban Outfitters and I think it was a hit. You'll see that I flirted with the idea of wearing a Vintage Daisy brooch but then decided it was a bit too much what with the embellished shoulders. Next up Seabird and I will be doing a reading of her play Between Us Chickens. MANHATTAN THEATER CLUB has been gracious enough to lend us space for the reading. I will be playing a young woman who likes taking trends to their err, breaking point and is just in LA to have a good time. Reminds me of SLIM KEITH, whose biography I have been tearing through this week.

COCKTAIL HOUR

While visiting some friends in Texas over the holidays I was schooled in the art of the cocktail. I had been dying to try an Old Fashioned ever since I heard about them from the dreamy Don Draper. Note; if you haven't jumped on the MAD MEN bandwagon yet, now is the time. And now is the time for me to beg the powers that be to please give me a part on that show because it is my dream! O.K. side note complete, like I was saying... soon visions of me and Don sipping Old Fashions' in various dimly lit bars began to haunt my dreams. Luckily, our friend and true renaissance man, Richard Kattmann (husband of the lovely Lisa Kattmann) came to the rescue with his family's secret recipe. After a few stiff ones in front of the Bissell's roaring fire I was feeling quite festive. I have attached the recipe below. Enjoy but beware...one is never enough and three is far too many.

OLE' DICK KATTMANN'S OLD FASHIONED RECIPE

**use an old fashion bar glass or a double old fashion size.

muddle two cherries at the bottom of the glass and make sure there is a small amount of cherry juice accompanying them.

add a small splash of bitters

packet of sweet n low or sweetener of your choice

ice - preferably "sonic ice" if you have one near your casa

add Maker's Mark whisky...

dress with a slice of orange.

blend with a spoon and sip.

Enjoy!!

GETWHATYOUGIVE

On Monday night we were invited to the THOM BAR for a benefit for Haiti. We had been wanting to make a donation and our friend Belinda Becker was DJing so it was sort of a no-brainer. The benefit far exceeded the original expectations however. There was a minimum donation of $20 which included unlimited lychee martinis, passed hor d'eueves, and our favorite "great people watching". Some of the colorful characters are featured above. After dancing for a few hours we rode the subway home and I realized I may have over-indulged the open bar but not in a bad way... just in a happy one. We got a curry chicken sandwich from SUNAC on our way to Greenpoint and called it a night;)

SUN DAMAGE

We took a drive out to Boerne today to check out Rudy's BBQ with my in-laws. Papa Champion is featured in one of the photos above. I miss NYC but I am also just starting to find my inner cowgirl;)

HAPPY NEW YEAR TEXAS

New YEARS in SAN ANTONIO, TX.
Skinny bitches, a bar named JEAN, Vodka and Sprite.
Made way for 2010. When "Empire State Of Mind" came on one of the girls we were with said "Awww, this is your song."
I guess it is.
One of the benefits of keeping our noses to the grind stone in the big city for another year:)
A girl came over to me and said that I was the coolest girl there because she and I were both wearing headbands. We took a photo together and I guess she had too many vodkas with Sprite because as the flash went off I felt something really cold spill down my back.
See photo above:)
My friend came back later to say she liked the pearl straps.
